Context

The platform processes financial transactions across multiple channels (mobile, web, point-of-sale, partner API) at volumes exceeding 500 000 per day. Each transaction must complete its full lifecycle — validation, authorization, settlement, ledger posting — without incorrect results, silent corruption, or inconsistent state. A single wrong balance triggers regulatory reporting and erodes customer trust.

Trigger

A customer or partner system submits a valid transaction during normal operating conditions (steady-state load ≤ 120% of provisioned capacity, all declared dependencies healthy).

Acceptance Criteria

  • ≥ 99.97% of transactions complete without manual correction, compensating entry, or system-fault retry over any rolling 30-day window; measured by reconciliation of the transaction log against the authoritative ledger.
  • End-of-day reconciliation produces zero unexplained discrepancies on ≥ 99.5% of business days over any 90-day period (batch reconciliation report).
  • Production-escaping defects (critical + high severity) do not exceed 0.3 per 1 000 function points per quarter (defect tracker).
  • Idempotency violations — reprocessing a request yields a different outcome — stay below 1 in 1 000 000 transactions (≤ 0.0001%); verified by weekly automated replay against a shadow ledger.
  • Static analysis reports zero “critical” and fewer than 5 “high” unresolved findings per release candidate build.

Measurement & Verification

  • Automated end-of-day reconciliation job; discrepancies feed a dashboard and pager alert.
  • Weekly replay suite resubmitting ≥ 10 000 transactions against the shadow ledger, asserting identical outcomes.
